Honestly. Did I slip something into your and Beth's drinks to make you glomp all over me this way? Seriously, what happened? I mean, really. All this public loving on me makes my palms sweat. TAKE IT OUTSIDE. *hugs you*
Back when I was a youngun - probably in early high school? - I read a quote which I cannot remember the source of, nor can I remember the actual wording of it. But it goes something like this:
If you endeavor to understand people you hate, you will find very soon there can be no more hate, only love.
It's the understand part of that sentiment that's the entire point of everything ever. We fall down a lot as a people in the 'understanding' part of life.
I also approach people with the idea that everyone is doing the best they can, as far as they can tell. Even if I think they've gone batshit, they themselves believe they are doing their best and I need to remember that.
That's why these characters on BtVS caught me and kept me. They're fluid and complicated and dynamic and layered. Their lives are real. So I try to understand them. And I recognize they're all doing their best. It doesn't mean I agree with them or want to be like them or even particularly admire some of them (and sometimes it means exactly that). But I do love them.

And I love you. Everyday. Never forget it.
